Impact Collective:
Empowered Democracies
The downfall of democracies is evident as global freedom has declined for 17 consecutive years, and for the first time since 2004, more states are governed autocratically than democratically. An empowered democracy is essential to tackle the polycrisis, as it ensures transparent governance, upholds human rights, and fosters inclusive decision-making. By strengthening democratic institutions, we can better address interconnected global challenges, such as climate change, inequality, and geopolitical instability, ensuring a resilient and equitable future for all.
In our collective, we bring together democracy startups, research institutes, businesses, and state actors to foster innovation and collaboration. Our collective on empowered democracies includes 8 sub-themes.
Our goal is to transform the way the global finance system works by pioneering a responsible finance revolution. Our collective aims to:
- Accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices
- Foster collaborative innovation
- Influence policy and corporate strategy
- Empower communities and industries
