The down­fall of democ­ra­cies is evi­dent as glob­al free­dom has declined for 17 con­sec­u­tive years, and for the first time since 2004, more states are gov­erned auto­crat­i­cal­ly than demo­c­ra­t­i­cal­ly. An empow­ered democ­ra­cy is essen­tial to tack­le the poly­cri­sis, as it ensures trans­par­ent gov­er­nance, upholds human rights, and fos­ters inclu­sive deci­sion-mak­ing. By strength­en­ing demo­c­ra­t­ic insti­tu­tions, we can bet­ter address inter­con­nect­ed glob­al chal­lenges, such as cli­mate change, inequal­i­ty, and geopo­lit­i­cal insta­bil­i­ty, ensur­ing a resilient and equi­table future for all.

In our col­lec­tive, we bring togeth­er democ­ra­cy star­tups, research insti­tutes, busi­ness­es, and state actors to fos­ter inno­va­tion and col­lab­o­ra­tion. Our col­lec­tive on empow­ered democ­ra­cies includes 8 sub-themes.

Our goal is to trans­form the way the glob­al finance sys­tem works by pio­neer­ing a respon­si­ble finance rev­o­lu­tion. Our col­lec­tive aims to:

  • Accel­er­ate the adop­tion of sus­tain­able prac­tices
  • Fos­ter col­lab­o­ra­tive inno­va­tion
  • Influ­ence pol­i­cy and cor­po­rate strat­e­gy
  • Empow­er com­mu­ni­ties and indus­tries

In May and Octo­ber of each year, our com­mu­ni­ty meets at the Col­lec­tive Impact Sum­mit in Berlin.
It includes a col­lec­tive meet­up, start­up pitch­es, expert keynotes, and a net­work­ing evening.
