Ambition

PLAN B is a civil society initiative in the process of being founded as an association. Our goal is a climate-neutral and socially just Berlin 2030, in line with the vision of a donut economy and implementing the Paris Agreement at the municipal level. We know how to achieve this goal: by measurably reducing our emissions and energy costs, insulating our homes cheaply and quickly, calming traffic in our neighborhoods, putting energy production in citizen hands, making good regional plant-based food affordable, greening rooftops, protecting and regenerating water and urban nature, and using fewer resources because we use, exchange, share, and recycle them smarter.

Solution

We offer different projects to help to reach our goal: Our first pilot is the German adaptation of the US-American Neighborhood Organizing Program “Cool Blocks” as part of the Cool City Initiative, which is currently underway with the active participation of 8 teams organizing 50 households in Berlin. Other than that we are promoting balcony solar panels as an entry point towards citizen energy production and have conceptualized and lobbied for BERTA (working title) — implementation-oriented transformation alliances that are supported by Berlin’s urban society, involving all senate administrations and enabling an acceleration of the upcoming transformation measures
